The Diacon System - Concrete Polishing System
The Diacon System is an exclusive all encompassing system of grinding, polishing, and leveling concrete floors that results in a denser and harder surface that is abrasion resistant, dust proof, easy to maintain, and able to be colored. Diacon developed the system utilizing the best technology in the industry through ongoing research and development. The end result is a dynamic and thorough process that consistently delivers results and satisfied customers.
Why Polished Concrete?
Polished Concrete is a long term solution to the ongoing maintenance problem found with common flooring surfaces. Since the late 1990's polished concrete research and development has accelerated this exciting flooring surface. Based on a survey conducted by the National Terrazzo and Mosaic Association reviewing flooring costs over a 20 year period, polished concrete was the least expensive to maintain, had the longest life, and was 824% cheaper than VCT flooring INCLUDING installation and annual maintenance. Needless to say, this fact alone has created quite a stir amongst big box retailers to reduce their annual maintenance cost and has returned excellent results to the bottom line. Once completed, polished concrete is durable, dust proof, abrasion resistant, eliminates efflorescence (dusting), stain resistant, and less maintenance. All of these benefits can be applied to newly poured (28 days cured) or old slabs, and best of all it's a long term solution that is very cost efficient.
Decorative Elements to Polished Concrete?
In the recent years, the introduction of colors to the polished concrete through dyes and stain has created a whole new market - high end retailers, schools, and individuals wishing to show off their toys. Diacon is a certified Ameripolish installer - which allows us to be creative and artistic in the installation of over 22 colors of dye. Not only do we have experience in one color installation, but also extremely difficult multiple color installations requiring intricate saw cuts and dye procedures. We are able to mix colors and apply certain techniques that can provide you a very unique surface to enjoy hassle free for years to come.
Polished Concrete - The Environmentally Friendly Solution
In addtion to all of the benefits listed above, polished concrete is also an environmentally friendly process.
- Most flooring products have excess waste during installation that usually consists of petroleum biproducts and other hazardous materials. The only biproduct from polished concrete is concrete dust itself - which can be easily recycled at the local concrete recycling facility. It ends up back into another poured concrete surface.
- The reflectivity of a polished concrete floor will reduce the required lighting level and in turn will reduce the power demand.
- Lower maintenance, which results in the elimination of harmful waxes, strippers, and chemicals that are required to maintain tile, VCT, and sometimes carpeted surfaces.
- Depending on the Installation, Polished Concrete is Eligible for LEED Credits MR 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 3.1, & 3.2, EA 1, EQ 4.1. This will help achieve your building LEED Certification.
Why Diacon Concrete Polishing System?
- The Diacon System was developed through extensive research and development and includes the best products available in the marketplace today. Diacon does not single source the system and has located these products through multiple manufacturers. These products were tested in the field and have proven to provide superior results over single sourced manufacturer systems.
- The Diacon System includes leveling, densification, and polishing during every installation. Diacon refuses to short cut any part of the process, making the Diacon product superior to many other systems in the marketplace.
- Diacon Densifier is unique in it's blend. It has a special add-in that increases the absorption in the floor and in turn increases the hardness, abrasion resistance, spill resistance, and overall strength of the concrete slab. Diacon Densifier does this by establishing and growing micro-crystals in the pours of the concrete that continue to grow over a 2 to 6 month period of time.
- Diacon has established a tried and true method of consistently delivering the same results. This is through the unique training program and systems developed by the company. The Diacon System can only be installed by a Diacon owned unit, and therefore Diacon is always able to maintain a high level of quality control.
